Institution : Science Center and Technology Museum (NOESIS)
The NOESIS (Centre for the Dissemination of Science and the Museum of Technology) digital collection comprises over 2,700 items and constitutes a coherent and multifaceted body of material documenting the development of science, technology, and industrial production.
The collection spans a wide range of objects and artefacts, from ancient Greek technology to modern applications, reflecting the long-term relationship between humans and technological innovation. It includes components, tools, scientific instruments, and domestic or technological devices—ranging from calculating machines, typewriters, and photographic equipment to telecommunications devices, radio technologies, image projection systems, and sound reproduction equipment—illustrating both the evolution of technological means and their practical uses.
Particular emphasis is placed on thematic areas such as transport (aerial, terrestrial, and railway), energy, medical technology, navigation, industry and textile production, as well as telecommunications and computing. The presence of scientific and meteorological instruments, surveying equipment, and objects related to everyday life further highlights the diffusion of technology across multiple domains of activity.
Thematic sub-collections—such as those dedicated to calculating machines, image projection devices, scientific instruments, audio equipment, and telecommunications artefacts—form a rich documentary environment that supports the study of technological development from multiple perspectives.
