The digital collection of HELEXPO–Thessaloniki International Fair- comprises an extensive body of historical and cultural material documenting the evolution of the Thessaloniki International Fair and its role in modern Greek history. The digital corpus is characterized by the predominance of two-dimensional graphic materials (over 10,000 items), with photographs (approximately 9,000) forming the largest category, capturing the development of the Fair, the urban transformation of Thessaloniki, and aspects of public life. Printed materials—such as posters, programmes, stamps, and postcards—further highlight the visual identity and communication strategies of the institution.
Architectural and technical drawings document the exhibition grounds and infrastructure development, while three-dimensional objects, including medals and related artifacts, reflect the material culture of the Fair’s events and institutional practices. Audiovisual materials, primarily promotional videos, complement the representation of the Fair’s public image and outreach.
The collection is organized into thematic sub-collections relating to the Thessaloniki International Fair, its networking events, festivals (including the Thessaloniki Song Festival and the Greek Film Festival), business exhibitions, and other cultural and commercial activities. Overall, the digital corpus constitutes a coherent and well-documented resource that highlights the Fair as a landmark institution in the economic, cultural, and social development of Thessaloniki and Greece.
