Το μονοτυπικό σύστημα στοιχειοθεσίας είναι ιδιαίτερα κατάλληλο για παραγωγή βιβλίων που περιλαμβάνουν σύμβολα και αριθμούς. Συγκριτικά με τη λινοτυπία πλεονεκτεί στο ότι μπορούν να γίνουν διορθώσεις χωρίς αναστοιχειοθεσία ολόκληρης σειράς.

The monotype typesetting system is particularly suitable for the production of books containing symbols and numbers. Compared with linotype, it has the advantage that corrections can be made without re-setting the entire series.
