The digital collection of the National Research Foundation «Eleftherios K. Venizelos» constitutes a comprehensive and coherent body of documentation dedicated to the life and work of Eleftherios Venizelos, one of the most prominent political figures of the 20th century. As part of the Foundation’s digital strategy, the collection harnesses new technologies to create a unified virtual archive, enabling systematic and integrated access to historical sources.

Within SearchCulture, more than 57,000 items are available, forming part of a broader digital archive of nearly 100,000 records. Chronologically, the material spans from the late 18th century to the second half of the 20th century, with a strong concentration in the period 1900–1949, covering key phases of modern Greek history.

In terms of content, the collection is predominantly composed of textual documents—manuscripts, official records, correspondence, and telegrams—reflecting the administrative, political, and diplomatic activity of the period. These are complemented by reports, legal texts, notes, press publications, speeches, and studies, forming a multilayered archive of discourse and documentation.

The collection includes a significant body of items of visual and material culture, such as photographs, printed material, postcards, and lithographs, as well as cartographic resources, enriching the historical narrative with visual and spatial context. A smaller yet notable group of three-dimensional objects, including medals and coins, further complements the archive.

Overall, the collection represents a valuable resource for historical research, offering open access to one of the most important archival corpora for the study of modern Greek political history.
