The Municipal Art Gallery of Larissa G.I. Katsigras Museum was created through the bequest of a private collection, that of Georgios and Kaiti Katsigra and has since progressed fine arts education in Larissa, the wider region of Thessaly and nationwide.
The collection includes 820 works, featuring paintings and prints, photographs, and a few sculptures by Greek artists. Represented are visual artists from Thessaly such as Dimitris Yoldasis and Dimitris Katsikogiannis, as well as many others, including Elli Mourelou-Orfanou, Spyros Vassiliou, Lambros Orfanos, Georgios Moschos, and others. The dominant theme of the collection is landscape painting, mainly of the Thessalian plain, but there are also allegorical and historical scenes, portraits, and still lives.
