Research Centre for the History of Greek Law  

The collection of the Centre for Research on the History of Greek Law of the Academy of Athens primarily comprises textual materials related to the history of Greek law and the functioning of judicial institutions. The material includes court decisions, notarial registers and deeds, case files, administrative documents, and commercial correspondence originating from archival collections and research missions conducted by the Centre. Thematically, the documents shed light on aspects of civil and commercial law, judicial practice, and the economic and social life of the Greek world. The chronological coverage of the collection extends from the eighteenth century to the twenty-first century, with particular emphasis on the late Ottoman period, the era of the Greek War of Independence, and the formation of the modern Greek state.
