The Archive of Proverbs and Traditions of the Hellenic Folklore Research Centre (HFRC) includes over 128,000 proverbs and more than 6,800 traditions from all regions of Greece and Asia Minor. Most of these are geolocated; therefore, discovering them via the map is highly recommended.
The proverbs archive was established by Nikolaos G. Politis and continued by Demetrios Loukatos, who systematized and expanded it. The traditions archive contains entries derived from the indexing of the Folklore Centre’s Manuscript Archive as well as from printed sources. The material is organized according to the classification system of N. G. Politis, as further developed primarily by Demetrios Loukatos.
